Hi Community,
We are currently testing Parallels RAS to expand our data center and offer better services. Primarily we currently have the scenario with a customer, webcams which are connected via an IGEL must be usable on the terminal server. The problem is, however, that the RDP connection closes again immediately after logging in if the USB device redirection is active. Without a webcam connected, the Parallels connection to the RDS will not be disconnected. We tested two different webcams (including the Logitech C920). Does anyone have any ideas? No suspicious logs can be seen on the affected RDS server.
Hey, I saw your post about the issue with Parallels RAS and the webcam on the terminal server. That sounds pretty frustrating. I’ve been trying to get something similar working, but I keep running into a snag too. The RDP connection just closes right after logging in if USB redirection is enabled. It works fine without a webcam, though.
Yeah, exactly! It’s so odd. We tried two different webcams (even the Logitech C920), but the problem persists. As soon as the webcam is plugged in, the connection just drops as soon as we log in. And there’s nothing in the logs to point to a cause. Have you had any luck figuring out what’s going on?
Not yet, but I’m wondering if it has something to do with the USB redirection handling in Parallels RAS. I’ve seen some similar issues where the USB devices cause the session to crash, but it could be a specific setting or compatibility issue. Have you checked the settings around USB redirection to make sure everything is set up properly?
I’ve double-checked everything I can, and it all looks fine. It just doesn’t make sense why it would be an issue with webcams specifically. If I don’t connect the webcam, the RDP connection works just fine. But with it plugged in, the session crashes every time.
I hear you. It’s almost like the server’s getting confused by the USB device. Maybe try disabling any other USB devices or peripherals you might have connected to the IGEL and see if that helps? I’ve read about similar cases where there’s a conflict between multiple USB devices and RDP.
That’s a good suggestion. I’ll try that out and see if there’s any change. If that doesn’t help, we might need to dig into some advanced troubleshooting, or maybe even test different versions of Parallels RAS to see if there’s an update or fix for this.
