We have an Azure VM running Parallels RAS. Our only access is remote users accessing published apps via the Parallels RAS and the occasional Admin logging on the VM via RDP for maintenance. In this scenario it seems to me I do not need the Azure ‘Front End’ VPN as the Parallels is providing the only required VNP. Can others confirm?
Hi! In your case, Parallels RAS should be enough for remote access. It already provides secure access through its RAS Gateway and SSL (port 443), so you don’t need the Azure Front End VPN.
Thanks for the quick response! Just to confirm, I don’t need to set up the Azure VPN for the remote users to access the published apps, right?
Exactly! Parallels RAS handles all the remote access securely. The Azure VPN would only be needed for other specific network connections, like site-to-site.
Got it! And for admin access, I can still use RDP for maintenance without needing the Azure VPN?
Yes, RDP access for admin maintenance is separate. You don’t need the Azure VPN for that either.
Perfect, thanks for confirming! This makes it much clearer. I’ll stick with Parallels RAS for remote access.
You’re welcome! Good luck with the setup!
